Some days ... the whole world seems upside down. And then somehow, and probably, and when you least expect it, the world rights itself again.

The Brighamia insignis, also known as "cabbage on a stick", is a plant only growing on the islands of Hawaii. Its flowers open at night so that moths with very long proboscis can pollinate the long flowers. It is believed that the only pollinator was a certain kind of moth that is nowadays extinct, making it impossible for the plant to reproduce on its own. The number of plants has decreased dramatically. For conservation of the plants the flowers are now artificially pollinated by humans.

I bought an offspring of the Brighamia insignis yesterday. I wonder if nature will find a way for this plant to reproduce again without the help of humans.
